  3. Why Should We Use VR? Learners become physically engaged in their learning. By adding additional senses, students are more likely to be more involved in the content than just reciting text from a book.

  4. Bridges the disconnect from what is taught in textbooks, etc. and what is actually out there in the world.

  6. Google Expeditions Google Expeditions enable teachers to bring students on virtual trips to places like museums, underwater, and outer space. Get the Google Expeditions App Google Expeditions for Android Google Expeditions for iOS

  7. Materials Needed 1 Teacher deviceAndroid or iOS device Student device(s) Android or iOSdevice Google Cardboard or Head Mounted Device WiFi

  8. Starting an Expedition Open the Expeditions App onthe teacher device. Choose “LEAD” on the App Sign In using your Google account.

  9. Choose an Expedition Scroll through the available Expeditions, or click the Search icon at the top right and type in what you are looking for. Tap the expedition to download and Begin. THEN set up your student devices.

  10. Set up for Use Fold Google Cardboard together and place the device in flap.

  11. Set up for Use Take a headset and slide out the devicetray.

  12. Set up for Use - Cont. Place the devicein the tray with the camera facing right. Open the Expeditions app on the student deviceand select your class.

  13. Setup for Use - Cont. When the “Waiting for Teacher” screen appears, center the line in the tray, and snap it back into the headset.

  14. Using Expeditions. When you select a lesson, it isdownloaded to the student device. After the contentis downloaded, you will see a checkmark to indicate it is ready. **After you have downloaded content, the teacher deviceis ready to lead a group through that lesson.

  15. Using Expeditions When the download is complete, click “Play” to start the lesson for your students.

  16. Using Expeditions Use the text to assist you in leading the Expedition. Example questions are provided for each scene and divided into Beginner, Intermediate,& Advanced categories.

  17. Using Expeditions Points of Interest can also be selected. The points will be circled in the scene, and an arrow will guide the students to that point. *NOTE: Smiley Faces will indicate where each student is currently looking.

Final Thoughts on VR While virtual reality is still a work in progress, it presents enormous possibilities to complement classroom and online learning to understand subject materials better and make learning more interactive and fun.
