Our curriculum is TEKS based from the State of Texas.
The TEKS can be downloaded from the TEA website!
This test is completely TEKS based.
The 3rd grade STAAR test covers material introduced and covered from Kindergarten – 3rd grade!
STAAR Test dates are TBD by the state. We will inform you of the dates as they arrive.
Your child will be given 10 spelling words each week. 5 of the words will follow a phonics pattern and the other 5 will be vocabulary words from math, social studies or science.
Along with the spelling words, the students will be asked to create a sentence using a spelling word correctly.
Tests are given on Fridays.
Reading and Writing
In 3rd grade we actively teach cursive writing.
Read a variety of genres.
We’ll publish writing in a variety of ways!
We will use Investigations as our main curriculum.
Investigations teaches the child number fluency and different ways to look at numbers.
Memorizing multiplication facts to the 12’s is a must!
TEKS based and tested by school district CBA’s (Curriculum Based Assessment)
We use Interactive Science Notebooks
Hands on experiments and projects.
You can help!
Encourage your child to do the best they can- but don’t pressure them!
Volunteer! Let your student see you here! Listen to students read, help tutor, or help prepare teaching materials!
Please review your child’s folder each day!
Graded work comes home in your child’s folder.
Any assignment with a grade below 70% can and should be corrected and returned that week!
Corrections raise grades to a maximum 70%!
