  7. What have detectors done so far • HMPID: A control system prototype • 5 sub-systems with hierarchical control and FSM’s • Interface to DAQ via ECS layer • Based on PVSS 2.12 • Used in several test-beams 2003 and 2004 • TPC: • 4 sub-systems with FSM’s • Based on PVSS 3.0 • Used in test-beam in 2004 • SPD and TRD • 3 sub-systems • Based on PVSS 2.12 and 3.0 • Used in test-beams in 2004

  8. Support • Overall good support • Excellent for FSM, DIM • More on-site support required in future • Help to configure systems and components • Many detectors have not yet started using PVSS/FW – especially the non-experts

  9. Conclusion • ~50% started using PVSS/FW but only ~25% are experienced • PVSS generally accepted as good choice • Main issues and concerns for 2005: • ORACLE based Archiving • Performing Configuration tools • ALARM system tools • Documentation and Help for non-experts • On-site support • Experience with JCOP very positive • Beside tools/components excellent forum for discussion and brain-storming
