  2. Indian coins have a diverse history behind them; these coins went through many stages of transformation. • The British rule gave rise to minting of Colonial Coins that featured Queen Victoria.

  3. These coins had distinctive features about them, from their mintage to their history, everything had something to say. • During the British era, all the coins produced were under the control of the crown.

  4. After the death of Queen Victoria, her son King Edward VII came to power. He was featured on most of the British coins in India.

  5. Rare Coins of British India made history during the British rule as they carried distinctive features that are not common anymore. • Between 1947 and 1950, the Indian government didn’t discontinue the coins minted by British.

  6. Republic Indian coins came into existence in the year 1950 and from there on there was no looking back. • During the year 1949, the Government Mint produced 14 types of pattern proof coins, which were made of Alloy, Brass, and Cupro-Nickel.
