  1. LCPS Science Academy To Apply: Enrollment in Algebra, Geometry or Algebra 2 and Trig. during the 8th grade. Accepted students who have not taken Geometry must complete Geometry either during summer school or from an online course.

  2. AOS students are enrolled in one Math course each year. • The cornerstone of math instruction throughout the program is a unique math/science integration that accentuates the understanding of math principles rather than repetition of rote process. • By 11th grade all students are enrolled in either Calculus AB or BC and by senior year, BC or multivariable calculus. • A concentration of modeling/statistics is incorporated at all levels, including science courses. • AOS freshmen will take an EOC SOL test to complete math verified credit requirements for graduation. 3. AOS 4 Year Math Progression

  4. Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology To Apply: Applicants to the freshman class at TJHSST must be enrolled in Algebra 1 or a higher level math course in grade 8 to apply to TJHSST. The student must be taking a full-year of high school algebra.

  5. Math • The five-year mathematics curriculum is a comprehensive program, which includes the study of algebras, geometries, topics in discrete mathematics, trigonometry, and functions, culminating with AP Calculus. • The sequence of topics has been designed to provide the mathematics required for successful completion of parallel science coursework. • Algebra I, the first course, is required prior to grade 9. • A full range of electives is provided including Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, AP Statistics, Complex Variables, and Differential Equations.

  6. Depending on 8th grade Math approximately 2/3 of TJ students will take: MultiVar/Linear Alg
