  2. Impact of Iron and Steel • Iron and steel’s Impact on great Britain • Build buildings • Build transportation routes • Made it more possible to import and export goods

  3. Advantages • There were definitely only advantages from iron and steel because nothing could happen to make this a disadvantage due to the many things you can do with steel and iron. • Without steel and iron you would not be able to build anything, there would be no transportation, and no building. • Iron and steel is the strongest metal and can basically do anything, this is a major plus of the industrial revolution

  4. Advancements In industry • Discovery of steel • Discovery of rubber – Charles Goodyear • Power driven machinery • Coal - coke - gas • Oil industry – paraffin for candle, lubricating oil for machinery, petroleum • William Kelly and Henry Bessel – cheaper way to produce steel

  5. Iron and steel • Iron became one of the two major materials of the modern industry • It iron and steel will spread through trade. People will see how Great Britain is using it and will want to start building things for there own.

  6. What’s going on? • The British had built steamed engines, but usually explodes because the metal cannot withstand such pressure. • Steel was used to fix the exploding problem. • The production of iron is very limited. • Because of the large quantity of coal and iron, worker were able to smelt down iron to make a stronger material.

  7. Advantage of the Great Britain • The Great Britain had a geographic advantage. • England had enough material to build and start an Industrial revolution. • Invention and inventors started arising giving England a greater advantage.

  8. Most Important Topic • This topic is the most important topic, because without the iron and steel, steam engine would work but would explode and cause more damage. • Many factory would not have been built.
