  6. Queen Elisabeth II is the head of the Commonwealth : the members are free but united by language, culture and economicalexch anges.In Canada thereisn’t a president but there’s a Prime Minister, Stephen Harper.

  7. In Canada , they use the Canadian dollar ( coins and banknoteswithQueen Elisabeth II ). But the « one cent » coin is no longer usednow.

  8. The capital city is OTTAWA in the province of Ontario. It’s in the South-East , near Montréal and Québec (French-speaking provinces)

  9. Our penfriends in Canada live in Castlegar. It’snext to the American border. It’s at the confluence of the Kootenay and Columbia rivers.

  10. Castlegaris a small city ( there are about 7,900 inhabitants). It’s in the province of British Columbia ,a Western region. There are the Rocky Mountains and the CoastMountains.

  11. Our penfriends ‘ schoolisTwin Rivers ElementarySchool. They are in 6th grade.

  12. There are manywoodenhousesbecauseit’s a mountainousregion. It’svery cold in Winter : itsnows a lot !

  13. There are wildanimals in British Columbia, for example the badger , the beaver or the chipmunk.

  14. Look at thesebeautifulanimals living in the forests: the deer , the caribou or the moose.

  15. In the mountains or nearrivers, youcansee black bears or grizzly bears ! They are big and dangerous !

  16. Thesewildanimals are more dangerous : the red fox, the greywolf,the lynx and the cougar .

  17. In Canada they love sports , for exampleice hockey. But theyalsoenjoyfishing !

  18. In British Columbia, youcan go kayaking, horse back riding or rafting .

  19. But youcanalso go hiking in the mountains or why not use a snowmobile.
