  9. How is a journalist different to a biologist, psychologist & sociologist?

  10. Difference between sociological, biological, psychological & journalistic approaches to studying society Journalists Research is less thorough and reporting may be biased or one-sided. Sensationalist stories to sell newspapers. Sociologists may research into the same social issues but sociologists select evidence and use it in a balanced way. Biology Look for biological causes or characteristics in individuals when studying human behaviour. Scientific experiments. Sociologists view behaviour as social or cultural rather than biological. Psychologists Focus on individual behaviour and mental functioning. Sociologists study the influences on human life. They focus on groups rather than individual behaviour.

Biology, Psychology and Sociology - E.g. perspectives on racism Psychologists would examine whether racism is caused by a childhood trauma Sociologists would examine whether a person was socialised with racist values or look at how ethnic minorities have been ‘scapegoated’. Biologists might look at genetic differences
