  3. METAPHOR- a direct comparrison. • A metaphor does not use like or as. EXAMPLES: “ Cole’s eyes were a blue ocean” – His eyes aren’t really an ocean , their just really blue. “ Melissa’s a whale” - she isn’t really a whale , she’s just really fat.

  4. Simile - comparing using like or as. Examples: “ My tears run down like roller blades” – Its not over , secondhand serenade(0:11) “ Life’s like a novel with the end ripped out “ – Stand , Rascal Flatts(1:02)

  5. Alitteration- Repeats same sound at the beginning of word. Examples : “ Sally sadly sat all alone at lunch” “ Peter Piper Picked a Pack of Pickled Peppers”

  6. Onomonepeia- A sound that sounds like the word its describing. Examples:

  7. Personifcation- giving human qualities to something that isnt alive. Examples:
