  1. Voices United # 402 verse 1 Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures high and low; give thanks to God in love made known: Creator, Word and Spirit, One.

  2. Call to Worship God has given us this beautiful earth, all that grows, all that lives upon it. Thanks be to God. God has given us breath to live and spirit to sing. Thanks be to God. God has gathered us into a community of care and worship. Let us worship God with love, thanksgiving, and praise.

  3. Voices United # 396 Jesus, Stand Among Us 1 Jesus, stand among us in your risen power; let this time of worship be a hallowed hour. 2 Breathe the Holy Spirit into every heart; bid the fears and sorrows from each soul depart.

  4. 3 Lead our hearts to wisdom till our doubting cease, and to all assembled speak your word of peace.

  5. Prayer for Transformation God of love and of grace, you know the secrets of our hearts: how blind we are to our own faults, yet harsh in judging others; how swift we are to take for gain, yet slow to give for others; how proud we are of our success, yet grudging in our praise of others.

  6. Remember, O God, your tender care and love unfailing. Do not remember our sins and offences, but remember us in your goodness, helping us to grow in Christ’s Way, in accordance with your endless mercy.

  7. Voices United # 232 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You 1 Joyful, joyful we adore you, God of glory, life and love; hearts unfold like flowers before you, opening to the sun above. Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, drive the gloom of doubt away; giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day.

  8. 2 All your works with joy surround you, earth and heaven reflect your rays, stars and angels sing around you, centre of unbroken praise. Field and forest, vale and mountain, flowery meadow, flashing sea, chanting bird and flowing fountain, sound their praise eternally.

  9. 3 You are giving and forgiving, ever blessing, ever blest, wellspring of the joy of living, ocean depth of happy rest! Source of grace and fount of blessing, let your light upon us shine; teach us how to love each other, lift us to the joy divine.

  10. 4 Mortals join the mighty chorus which the morning stars began; God's own love is reigning o'er us, joining people hand in hand. Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife; joyful music leads us sunward in the triumph song of life.

  11. Voices United # 873 Psalm 149 Refrain: Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Refrain: Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Sing to God a new song; give praise in the assembly of the faithful. Let Israel rejoice in its Maker; let the children of Zion exult in their Sovereign! Let them praise God's name with dancing; let them sing God's praise with tambourine and harp!

  12. For you, O God, take delight in your people; you crown the humble with victory. Let the faithful exult in their glory; let them sing for joy as they feast. Let God's praise be on their lips, the two-edged sword in their hands, to bring the nations to justice, and call to account the peoples, to bind their rulers with fetters, their great ones with bonds of iron, Refrain: Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

  13. to execute on them the sentence decreed. This is the glory of all God's saints! Refrain: Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

  14. Voices United # 690 From the Slave Pens of the Delta 1 'From the slave pens of the delta, from the ghettoes on the Nile, let my people seek their freedom in the wilderness awhile': so God spoke from out of Sinai, so God spoke and it was done, and a people crossed the waters toward the rising of the sun.

  15. 2 'From the aging shrines and structures, from the cloister and the aisle, let my people seek their freedom in the wilderness awhile': so the Son of God has spoken, and the stormclouds are unfurled, for his people must be scattered to be servants in the world.

  16. 3 When we murmur on the mountains for the old Egyptian plains, when we miss our ancient bondage, and the hope, the promise, wanes, then the rock shall yield its water and the manna fall by night, and with visions of a future shall we march toward the light.

  17. 4 In the maelstrom of the nations, in the journey into space, in the clash of generations, in the hungering for grace, in our agony and glory, we are called to newer ways by the God of our tomorrows who is God of earth's todays.

  22. Offertory Hymn – We Give Thee But Thine Own Voices United # 543 1 We give thee but thine own, what e'er the gift may be; all that we have is thine alone, a trust, O God, from thee. 2 May we thy bounties thus as stewards true receive, and gladly, as thou blessest us, to thee our first-fruits give.

  23. Offertory Prayer We bring our gifts to you, God. Here is the work of our hands, and here is the love of our hearts. Accept them and use them, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

  24. Prayers of the People God of endings and beginnings, we come before you. We need fresh starts in our world. We pray for a peaceful end to the conflict in the Middle East and the beginning of a lasting peace between Israel and Palestine. We pray for the beginning of an organization for world peace that is effective, and we pray for an end to hostilities that cause persons to flee their homelands as refugees.

  25. We pray for the establishment of a global charter that enables each child to have nutritious food, education, and safety from exploitation and sexual abuse. Just and loving God, with you new beginnings come to life and work out purposefully.

  26. God of endings and beginnings, we come before you. We need fresh starts among the suffering. We pray for the beginning of practice patterns within the health care network that enable all to have access to the best diagnostic facilities, and we pray for an end to the fear that prevents persons from seeking timely medical help. We pray for understanding when memory loss has distorted the normal pattern of living. We pray for a positive attitude towards those who are mentally ill and those who care for them, and an end to the prejudice that results in inferior care.

  27. We pray for an end to the emptiness and desolation that comes with grieving, and the beginning of life that is again enjoyable, through the support of good friends and counsellors. We pray for members of our family and our church family who are going through troubled times (time of silent reflection). Just and loving God, with you new beginnings come to life and work out purposefully.

  28. God of endings and beginnings, we come before you. We need fresh starts within the church. At this end to the summer life of the church, we give thanks for those who brought worship and fun and support to so many within the faith community... Pama, Evelyn, all who contributed to the children’s program...and we pray for this faith community at the start of a new church year. We especially bring before you, Gracious God, those who will be our Nursery staff and Children’s Church leaders and helpers, those responsible for worship, music, social, and outreach activities.

  29. We pray for those who are in the wider courts of the church, that new directions that revitalize and strengthen our well-loved denomination will emerge, and that there will be an end to talk that does not result in action. We pray for an end to seeing the mission funds as second best to local giving, and we pray for the beginning of a practical empathy for those whose needs are great but whose names we will never know. Just and loving God, with you new beginnings come to life and work out purposefully.

  30. And we are aware of our personal need for fresh starts. As we remember the personal conflicts that seem never ending, we pray for the beginning of fresh understanding and a new direction. As we seek to bring to an end a troubled occupation or unsatisfying leisure time activity, so we pray for energy and enthusiasm to start those ventures that fulfill us. We pray for an end to the fears and memories of events long past that haunt and depress us, and the beginning of feeling joy and excitement in the everyday moments of life.

  31. Gracious and ever loving God, in our endings and in our beginnings we look only for your purpose and for the will to fulfill your purpose. Amen.

  32. More Voices # 427 To Show By Touch and Word 1 To show by touch and word devotion to the earth, to hold in full regard all life that comes to birth, we need, O God, the will to find the good you had of old in mind.

  33. 2 Renew our minds to choose the things that matter most, our hearts to long for truth till pride of self is lost. For every challenge that we face we need your guidance and your grace.

  34. 3 Let love from day to day be yardstick, rule, and norm, and let our lives portray your word in human form. Now come with us that we may have your wits about us where we live.

  35. Go with us, Lord, as now we depart, calming the fears that trouble each heart. Keep us all in your grace until we come, again, to this place.

  36. Go with us, Lord, as now we depart, calming the fears that trouble each heart. Keep us all in your grace until we come, again, to this place.   (candles are extinguished and the Bible closed)

  37. Go with us, Lord, as now we depart, calming the fears that trouble each heart. Keep us all in your grace until we come, again, to this place.   (candles are extinguished and the Bible closed) Now we will walk in peace with the Lord, living in faith and teaching His word. Share His love ev’ry day, for He has surely shown us the way! Amen, Amen.
