Goals for this week • This slide should be the exact same as the “Goals for next week” of the previous meting, occasionally some goals will be added or deleted. • One slide (can’t have too many research goals in only one week) • Goal 1: perform literature search on weld penetration • Reason for this goal, e.g. “need to know what other people have already done in this field” • How does this fit with the goals for the term, e.g. “build the base for the Introduction in a paper to be submitted this semester” • Goal 2: … • Goal 3:…

  4. Tasks and accomplishments • One or two slides per task/accomplishment. Important to capture the “bottom line” • Each task/accomplishment relates to one of the goals. • Expected: • Photos, figures, graphs, tables that convey a clear message. • Scientific insight into why we see what we see (not for everything) • Definitely no raw data or unsorted information • Best way to import figures and graphs is using Copy and “Paste Special” as “enhanced metafile • Not expected • Long write-ups, perfect figures, explanations of everything
