  1. Death Valley By: Dimitris Aspiote

  2. Where It Is Located • Death Valley is located in North America. It is in southwest of the Untied Sates. It is in California. The Western hemisphere is 174 degrees.

  3. Climate • The Death Valley desert is one of the driest, and hottest place on earth. The Valley is a long, narrow basin 282 feet below sea level. Summer nights provide little relief as overnight lows may dip into to 86 to 95 degrees F. The hottest air ever recorded in the Death Valley is 134 degrees F.

  4. 1st unique animal One animal that lives in the Death Valley desert is the Kangaroo Rat. In this place famous for the lack of water, the Kangaroo Rat can live their entire lives without drinking a drop of water. Their kidneys have the ability to concentrate urine 4 to 5 times a human can. They are active at night and they sleep during the day. They sleep underground in a narrow nest so no animals can get to them.

  5. 2nd unique animal My second animal of choose that can manage to live in the Death Valley desert is the Sidewinder. The kangaroo rat is an intruder to this snake. It is a small rattle snake and it is very venomous. All the moisture that it needs comes from the animals it eats. At night it moves into the home of one of the animals it ate for lunch or dinner. That is how it survives in the desert.

  6. 3rd unique animal The third animal I am doing is the Roadrunner. The Roadrunner is about 52 centimeters long a weighs about 300 grams. It feeds on small reptiles and insects. It lays 3-6 eggs on the lower branches of the cactus. It can run up to 20 miles per hour. They get their water from their pry.

  7. 1st Unique Plant • My first plant of choice is the Creosote Bush. It lives in southern part of the Death Valley desert. The flowers that grow on the plant has yellow petals that bloom from February through August. It grows 12-feet in height. It can survive with water. It gets its food from the ground.

  8. 2nd Unique plant My second choice of plant is the Mariposa Lily. This is a small plant with conspicuous flowers of orange or crimson. It does not get no taller than 10 inches. It is found between 2000 and 6500 feet in elevation in the desert. Their blooming season is from April to June.

  9. 3rd Unique plant My third choice of plant is the Sego Lily. The Sego Lily is a small perennial with showy flowers. The color at the base of the petal include yellow, red, and purple. It grows up to four to sixteen inches in height. It’s blooming season is May through July. The sego lily may be found throughout the Great Basin area from 6000 to 9500 in elevation.

  10. 1st Environmental Factor My first environmental factor is the Gambel’s Quail. This bird has short legs and roundish wings. It is real easy way to tell a male from a female. A male has black throat and a black face and a head plume. The female is mostly the same but her throat is red and white. They get their food from the plants and some of their food from the ground.

  11. 2nd Environmental Factor My second choice of for my environmental factor is the desert lily. According to desertusa I found out the desert lily habitat is on the sandy desert flats and slopes below 2500 feet. That website also to me that it has creamy looking petals. It gets up to 1 to 4 feet in height and 8 to 20 inches long.

  12. 1st Animal in Troubledamaging the Ecosystem There are three animals in my desert that are endangered because of poachers and unexpected droughts. I got this information from the power point on the internet. The website is called facultyfp.com. One of the animals are is the black rhino.

  13. 2nd Animal in trouble that is damaging the ecosystem My second animal of choice is the Llama. It is endangered because when they do get their rain this place floods very easily. They are also getting endangered because of poachers and the heat is very strong. I got this info from www.desertusa.com .

  14. 3rd Animal in Trouble that is damaging the ecosystem This is my 3rd choice of animal. It is the mule deer. This animal is getting endangered because of people. The people are hunting the mule deer and it is making less and less of them. With the drought it is hard for them to get water when they are done eating. The heat is a strong factor of the endangerment of them.

  15. Chemistry They would use chemistry to check the water in the Death Valley desert. They would check it to make sure it is not polluted and make sure it is safe for the animals to drink. If they found out that the water was polluted they would have to go find out how and why it is polluted. If the animals started dying for nothing that means there would be a lot of people asking how they are dying and why.

  16. Geology Geologist are scientists with unnatural obsessions with beer and rocks. They would do studies on the ground and rocks in the Death Valley desert. They would be studying the earth to see when the next earthquake might be or if they already had one. They would study the rocks to see if there is any crystals or fossils in the rocks. They would study the ground to see what type of minerals are in the ground.

  17. Compared my Ecosystemto another Ecosystem I am going to compare my ecosystem the Death Valley desert to Ecosystem of the Sahara desert. The to desert are alike because they both are very hot. Both of them are one of the largest and hottest deserts in the world. They both have water and have a lot of different types of animals that people like to go and see and to take pictures of them. They both have a lot of people that go, stay, and have a lot of fun why they are there.

  18. Contrasting my ecosystem to another Ecosystem I am going to contrast my Ecosystem the Death Valley desert to another Ecosystem called the Sahara desert. One thing that is different in are the two ecosystem is that the Sahara desert gets snow and ice and the death Valley desert does not get snow or ice. Another thing different is that the Sahara desert is known for having crystals. Want to know something else the Death valley desert has higher heat temperatures then the Sahara desert.

  19. 1st thing neat about this Ecosystem The 1st thing that is neat about this ecosystem is that is the Jack Rabbit. The Jack rabbit is very hyper. People should come to Death Valley because they should care about the Jack rabbit and I am going to tell you why. The Jack Rabbit is very friendly and it has a lot of babies to take care of because they have up to 7 to 9 litters.

  20. 2nd thing that is so neat about my ecosystem. The second thing that is so neat about my ecosystem is the plants. The plant I am going to be telling you about is the Arizona poppy. That flower is important because it feed the animals. It does that how, it lets them eat the leaves and more leaves will grow back onto the plant. People should care about this plant because it dies a lot because of the insects.

  21. 3rd thing that is so neatabout my ecosystem The third thing that is so neat about my ecosystem is the lakes and rivers. People should care about the lake and river like the Bad Water lake. They should care because the animals drink out of it and if it polluted that means that the animals could die. That is why people should care so that the animals do not die and make less and less of there type.
