Color Recall Test - Memory and Concentration Assessment

1. For this test you will be asked to remember the colors of words that are briefly presented on the computer screen. • After several have been presented you will be asked to write down the first letter of each color in order on the answer sheet. • The next few screens will explain this procedure in more detail. • (Press the space bar to continue to the next screen)

2. Imagine each square below is a screen that is presented for one second, followed by the next screen, and so on... 1 2 3 green red yellow • Your job is to try to remember the color of the letters for each word you see. For this example, you would be remembering “blue, yellow, red”. Note that you should not read the word, you should only remember the color of the letters. • (Press the space bar to continue to the next screen)

3. After a set of words are presented you will see a screen with the word RECALL in white capital letters. This screen is instructing you to write down the colors you have been remembering. 1 2 3 4 green red yellow RECALL • When you see the word RECALL on the screen, you will write the first letter of each color that you are remembering, in order. • So, for the above example you would write B, Y, R on the answer sheet with one letter in each box. This example is already written on your answer sheet (Example 1). • If you would like to go through the instructions again, ask the experimenter. If you want to continue on to the practice, press the space bar on the keyboard.

4. There are seven boxes next to each number. This is because up to seven words can be presented before you have to recall them. • There will be somewhere between 2 and 7 words for each RECALL set. Each recall set is called a trial. • You are now going to complete a few example trials. The first example you are going to complete is Example 2 on the answer sheet. • Remember, you have to remember the color of each word you see, do not read the word. • When you see the word RECALL, you should write down the first letter of each color you have been remembering in order. • (Press the space bar to continue to the next screen)
