  1. WESTAR Sources Committee Spring Update Mike Schneider (Draft 04/12/05) Air Permitting Specialist New Mexico Air Quality Bureau

  2. Introduction • Making Progress through monthly calls. • Continue to track and discuss relevant issues. • Waiting in the wings?

  3. Topics of Discussion • Monthly Calls and Participation. • Issues Tracked. • Update on NSR Reform Sources Committee Workshop. • Director Input/Feedback.

  4. Network Re-established • Seven committee calls averaging seven participants per call since Fall Business Meeting. • STAPPA Permitting Call, WESTAR PSD Reform efforts, Hg MACT and EPA Title V task force tracked and discussed. • Open Forum call feature facilitates state interaction on permitting and enforcement issues. • Specific discussions on ethanol, coal fired and Petroleum plants.

  5. NSR Reform Workshop – What Happened? • Committee decided against this effort for the following reasons: • Not enough interest at this time. • Most states adopting Federal Rule. • No sense of urgency as most States will apply NSR Reform in 2006. • Some call participants do not work in their state’s permitting program and did not feel strongly about learning the rule. • Others felt that when issues arise the need for training may be more relevant.

  6. Input or Feedback • Please Provide • Thanks!
