  2. 2012 – 2013 Middle Level Portfolio • The Middle Level Portfolio serves as the Middle Level Assessment Project and provides an authentic means to showcase your child’s accomplishments as a middle level student. • Throughout the year your child collected samples of school work from across the curriculum as evidence of his/her achievement of the Council Rock Literacy Standards.

  3. 2012– 2013Middle Level Portfolio • At designated points in the school year your child selected samples of work to provide evidence of his/her achievements in reading, writing, listening, speaking, viewing, and researching. • Throughout the year, your child reflected upon the learning process to self-assess achievement and growth as a learner.

  4. Contained in the Middle Level Portfolio Six (6) Sub-folders • Reading / World Language • English • Math • Science • Social Studies • Arts Each sub –folder contains a minimum of 5 exhibits Minimum number of exhibits = 30 (We may have many more!)

  5. Reading Exhibits Requirements:Five to ten pieces of writing that demonstrates the student’s ability to read: • Independently to understand, analyze, and interpret literature • Critically in all content areas to understand informational material(s) • To maintain a reading log

  6. Composing Exhibits Requirements:Evidence of Writing Accomplishment in: • Writing effectively in a variety of modes (narrative, persuasive, informational) in all areas. • Apply the five domains • Focus • Content • Organization • Style • Conventions To produce high quality writing

  7. Listening, Speaking, and Viewing Exhibits: • Listen and respond to others through discussion • Prepare and deliver individual formal presentations using media to expand understanding

  8. Researching Exhibits: • Formulate a research question and supporting questions • Gather, organize, and document information appropriate to the research question • Evaluate information and draw a conclusion to answer the research question

  9. What is your part in the portfolio sharing experience? • Ask questions of your child. Did this portfolio reflect his/her best work? • What did your child like best about the portfolio? • What did you like best about the portfolio? • Please read the 3 Reflections and 1 Reflective Essay. Did the essays reflect your child’s progress as a learner? • At a later time your child will be provided feedback from the staff , please ask your child to share this feedback. • Thank you.
