1. Introduction • American dad! Is an American animated television series created by Seth MacFarlane who is also the creator of Family Guy and The Cleveland Show • It is owned by Underbog Productions and Fuzzy Door Productions • American dad! Follows the events of CIA agent Stan Smith and his family • Unlike Family Guy, American Dad! Does not contain cutaway gags, but relies more on situational humour • American Dad! Has a recurring gag in its opening sequence that is changed every episode, pretty similar to how The Simpsons use a couch gag in each of their opening • sequences • This recurring gag was originally a different • newspaper headline which usually referred to current affairs, • this gag lasted for the first 4 seasons • After that they changed the • gag to Roger popping up next to Stan in his SUV singing • “Good Morning, USA!” with a different costume each episode

Was first aired on BBC 3 in February 2007 • American Dad! Did not make the top ten for BBC 3 on BARB and didn’t get more than 368k views • The highest viewing figure for American Dad! On FX I found was 138K • The lowest viewing figure for American Dad!
