  2. Cars • By 1930, there were 91,000 motor vehicles in Queensland. • Modern roads have meant faster and more reliable transport of passengers, goods and services.

  3. Train • The first railway in Australia was opened in 1854 • A second Tilt Train between Brisbane and Bundaberg was introduced in July 1999, with the Brisbane to Cairns Tilt Train service scheduled to commence in 2002/2003.

  4. Buses • Omnibuses were the first types of buses used throughout Brisbane. • Queensland Transport is spending millions of dollars to help make bus travel faster and more accessible with the construction of the South East Busway and the proposed Inner Northern Busway.

  5. Horse and cart • Horses were used both for riding and for pulling vehicles, though the loads they pulled were lighter than those pulled by bullocks
