  2. PROMPT These three ideas in my mind prompted me to develop this lecture • that the human brain is the source of Thought pollution which is the cause of all the world problems including health problems • that Right Thinking is slowly loosing its place in this world and is replaced by the polluted thinking, • and the answer to prevent polluted thinking and its effects is only by MENDING THE MIND

  3. LEARNING OBJECTIVES • What is thought pollution? • Why thought pollution? • How it effects the health of • individuals • families • communities • nations • and world at large • How to solve this problem?

  4. POLLUTED THINKING • UNNATURAL THINKING • DEVIOUS THINKING • HARMFUL THINKING • PREJUDICED THINKING • SELFISH THINKING • SICK THINKING

  5. GOAL OF POLLUTED THINKING “I alone must be well”

  6. MAGNITUDE OF THE PROBLEM It destroys • the human value system • societal integrity and stature • family structure and strength • individual character and results in weak , immoral and unhealthy families and society.

  7. MAGNITUDE OF THE PROBLEM Thought pollution increases • crime, • antisocial behavior, • suicides, • psycho somatic disorders • depressive disorders, • accidents • violence and wars

  8. ANCIENT ORIGIN • Polluted thinking started with Adam and Eve • They thought wrongly in a different way • Contradictory to God’s way of thinking and advice • Hence they suffered

  9. RESERVOIR • . Social problems HUMAN BRAIN (RESERVOIR OF THOUGHT POLLUTION) Health problems

  10. NECESSARY CAUSE • “I and mine” thinking is the root cause of all the world health problems and global problems

  11. CAUSAL COMPLEMENT • HOST FACTORS:- • GENETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY • ILLITERACY • JEALOUSY& GREED • OVER SEX • ANGER • MISERLINESS • TOO MUCH MATERIALISTIC WANTS • EGO • INFERIORITY COMPLEX

  14. EFFECTS ON INDIVIDUAL HEALTH • POLLUTED THINKING ALWAYS CAUSES BOTH SOCIAL AND HEALTH PROBLEMS • WRONG THINKING CREATES SUSPICION AND TENSION IN THE INDIVIDUAL AND HIS THOUGHTS WILL GO ON CONTINUING AND BECOMES COMPLEX IN NATURE THEREBY INCREASING BLOOD PRESSURE ,CARDAIC MORBIDITY AND MORTALITY • WRONG THINKING PROMOTES ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOR IN THE INDIVIDUAL AND PROMPTS FOR CRIME AND VIOLENCE.

  15. EFFECTS ON THE FAMILY HEALTH • Bad thinking, jealous thinking, non adaptive selfish thinking results • IN LOSS OF HUMAN VALUES • IN LOSS OF RELATIONSHIPS , • IN LOSS OF ETHICAL AND MORAL VALUES • and leads to breakdown of joint families into nuclear families leaving the elders to their fate and allowing them to go into depression ,psychoses, suicides etc.

EFFECTS ON COMMUNITY HEALTH • Community will be healthy only when the families are devoid of polluted thinking • Community health deteriorates with polluted thinking • Aboriginal, tribal communities suffer from greater morbidity and mortality due polluted and ignorant thinking • Bad life styles in a community resulting from wrong thinking lead to lot of ill health in a community .

  18. EFFECTS ON NATION’S HEALTH • Poor , irrational and politically motivated health policies lead to ill health and loss of man hours to the nation. • Wrong decisions resulting in poor budget allocations for health leads to nation’s ill health. • This is a universal defective thinking for all the nations in the world .They allocate huge amounts to kill each other ( defense budget) and less for survival budgets.

  19. EFFECTS ON WORLD’S HEALTH • Rich nations, know that green house gases are causing problems like global warming, cyclones, tsunamis, earth quakes. • Their selfish, narrow minded thinking prevented them to accept the Rio de Janero Resolutions to prevent global warming. • Most of the green house gases are released by richest countries.

  20. PREVENTION OF THOUGHT POLLUTION • Possible only when • One knows who he is ? • What he is made up of ? • Who are other livingbeings? • What is this world? • What is the mission one has to accomplish?

  21. PREVENTION • By self realization (by having the divine knowledge) • By understanding the life events or happenings • By following the laws of life

  25. What you have lost • What you have brought to loose? • What you have lost to repent? • What is lost that you have created? One must be contented to be happy and healthy

  26. WHAT YOU HAVE GAINED • Whatever you have gained is from here only • Whatever you have given, you have given it here only. • Whatever you are thinking your own today belongs to some one else yesterday and it will belong to some one else tomorrow.

  27. EARTH LAUGHS • Earth laughs at the people who claim its ownership as no one has been able to take away even a small piece of earth or its belongings with him so far. • . It has seen so many generations who livedon it and died

  28. LAWS OF LIFE • All are made up of same godliness ,hence all should be given equal importance and respect

  29. LAWS OF LIFE • All should be well and possess • RIGHT THINKING • RIGHT DESIRE • RIGHT SPEECH • RIGHT TRANQAUILITY

The person laughed at the sage. • Sage on his return found the person crying as he was hurt by the knife while felling the coconuts. • The great sage told him that the tree might have wept in the same way when he cut its coconuts rudely.

  31. EXAMPLES OF EQUALITY • He performed rituals in a similar manner for his mother, for his pet cow and for a fox who have died in his ashram (house)
