IDB Services Overview • Vocational Rehabilitation • VR agency for blind, visually-impaired & deaf-blind Iowans • Orientation Center • Residential training program @IDB • Independent Living • Iowans with vision loss aged 55+ or with secondary disabilities non-vocational • Business Enterprises Program • Self-employed in vending or cafeteria business • Library f/t Blind & Physically Handicapped • Materials in alternative formats for those unable to read printdue to vision loss or physical disability

  3. VREligibility • Has a qualifying visual impairment. • Visual impairment substantially limits ability to work. • Requires VR services to prepare for, obtain, or keep a job. • Social Security due to blindness: presumed eligible.

  4. What is a qualifying visual impairment? • Legal (Statutory) Blindness: 20/200 or less in better eye with correction or visual field of 20 degrees or less. • Visually Impaired: Has difficulty performing ordinary tasks with sight – even with the best glasses or contact lenses. • Functional Blindness?
