  3. Where Does Bullying Happen? • Out at recess • On the bus • In the classroom • In your neighborhood • In the bathroom

  4. What are Some Characteristics of Bullies? • They want attention • They were bullied themselves • They lack empathy for others • Learned behavior • Feel bad about themselves • They do not know how to handle anger and frustration • It makes them feel powerful

  5. What are Some Consequences of Bullying? • Feelings get hurt and it causes great pain • The bullied child may want to harm themselves • The bullied child may strike back and cause more violence • The child may not want to come to school and their grades will suffer

  6. What if am Being Bullied? • Know it is not your fault • Tell someone (adult or teacher) • Learn skills to help you stop this behavior • DO NOT fight back • Be assertive and speak up for yourself • You do not have to deal with this alone

  7. What if I See Someone Else Being Bullied? • Don’t be a by stander- intervene immediately • Tell someone • Be a friend

  8. Hale Road’s School RulesAgainst Bullying • We will not bully others. • We will try to help students who are bullied. • We will make it a point to include students who are left out. • When we know someone is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.
