  2. Getting started

  3. Steps To ensure the best steps to navigating the ASU Library website, you must understand the ways the site has been set up for students. • Type lib.asu.edu into address bar of your webpage • Become familiar with the site’s main page; there are many resources students and faculty can use • The databases are the best resource for research papers and navigating documents specific to your college or concentration

  4. Databases and Resources Research papers are a huge part of the collegiate experience. Compared to high school, knowing how to research credible sources is key to writing success. • Refer to the “Most Used Resources” section on the site’s main page These links help to find journals, articles, books, etc. just by typing in a word search

  5. Case Study To understand how to use these resources, I will take you on a case study search that relates to my college. • Click on Academic Search Premier link • Type in your ASUrite ID and password (This should have been given to you upon your acceptance to ASU)

  6. Academic Search Premier/ EBSCO Host In this case study, I am researching for a paper requiring journal articles on Frank Lloyd Wright.

  7. Type “Frank Lloyd Wright” into the search bar • Articles that can be accessed online, found at a specific place on campus, or purchased • Make sure to site any sources you may use in APA or MLA format (use the “Citing Sources” link under the section for students) • Click: students, for your research, and “Citing Sources”

  8. RefWorks • At the top of the library page, there is a menu for “My Accounts” • Scroll down to My RefWorks Account and set one up on the site

  9. The help RefWorks can give you are specific to ASU students and your major.

  10. The ASU library online is an excellent resource, especially for new students directly out of high school. The transition can be hard and overwhelming, but lib.asu.edu makes it easier! If you ever have confusion, there are librarians that can assist you at anytime. You can access communication with them online or at the libraries on ASU’s campuses in person.
