Standards to Reach For… Second Phase Driver Education/Concurrent and integrated instruction Purchase and implement the use of high quality simulators Increase the minimum hours to 45 and 10 Require parents to attend at least one parent teacher conference at the end of the course Encourage parent/teen agreements Require at least 50 hours of parent-led practice driving during the GDL phase • 6 8/26/2014

Standards to Reach For… • Required student proficiencies/empirically based licensing tests • Beef up instructor training – 120 hours • Collaboration between state agencies (DOT, DMV, DPI, GHSP, Local LEA) • Instructor certification renewal process • Post course evaluations for the purpose of improving • Distributive learning • Embrace best teaching practices and various delivery modalities
