  6. Scientists use math to organize, analyze, and present data. Read page 529 and tell me the definition of Mean. The mean is the average, or the sum of the data divided by the number of data items.

  7. Safety Symbols warn of possible dangers in the laboratory and remind you to work carefully. Read page 534. What does this symbol warn you of ? Breakage.

  16. Key terms are highlighted and in boldface in the text. The definition usually follows the key term. Find the key term “heat” on page 17. What is heat? Heat is the thermal energy transferred from one object to another as a result of the difference in temperature.
