  2. Curriculum Night Schedule Deer #115 Kringen #114 Gray #105 Woulf #100

  3. Academic lab • Fourth period is all about building community and connections. It is NOT a study hall period. During Academic Lab, we will have: • Announcements • Team meetings or activities by pods, subject, or grade level • Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) • Instruction related to technology, study skills, and test preparation

  4. Purple Folders • Tonight you received your student’s purple Academic Lab folder. On Monday, check it again for even more important paperwork! This folder will contain: • Paperwork that may require your signature. • Upcoming events that may be of interest to your child. • This folder should stay in your child’s backpack all year, and you should check it regularly.

  5. Parent Survey • On the outside of your student’s purple folder you will find a small white label. • The label contains a QR Code that will take you directly to an online survey. • If you don’t have a QR Code app on your phone, simply go to this Web address: http://www.kyrene.org/page/29867 • The survey will help us gather important information including YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.

  6. Student Agendas • Student agendas are provided the first week of school. They help with organization by: • Communicating what is happening at school on a daily basis. • Providing information about homework for each subject. • Giving parents a way to make sure that everything is getting done and aiding in future planning (such as sports, extra-curriculars, or family outings).

  7. “STRESS-LESS” HOMEWORK • If you have questions about homework you can check your child’s agenda or the team website for information. • Your child can use Academic Lab time to do research or print assignments if internet access or a printer is not readily available. • You can always email your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

  8. First week of school • Students meet in the gym on Monday and Tuesday when the bell rings. • We strongly suggest that students bring their lunches the first week of school.

  9. Lunch Money • Pay in the foyer after exploratory classes tonight to add money for your child’s lunch account. • Use Kyrene’s online lunch money service to avoid delays. • You and your child should memorize his/her student number before the first day of school to make things easier for lunch, library, computer use, etc.

  10. Tardy policy • Academic achievement is significantly related to school attendance. You can help us ensure that your child receives the education he/she deserves by arriving before the first bell rings at 8:25am. • First tardy is a warning.Second tardy is a parent contact. Third tardy is an after-school detention. • Ongoing tardiness requires detention or office referrals to assist students in “catching up” on what they missed. • If you have questions about Arizona laws regarding attendance, see the Kyrene Family Handbook or an administrator.

  11. Schedule changes • Please be aware that your student’s schedule may change to balance classes as more students enroll and/or to increase academic success.

  12. Sports Physicals • Sports physicals will be available here at Aprende in our gym on: Thursday, August 9th 4:00--7:00 pm • The cost for the physical is $25. • Sign up for an appointment at physico2go.com • Walk-ins are welcome as time permits.

  13. Meet and Greet breakfast • The Aprende Parent-Teacher organization will be sponsoring a meet-and-greet breakfast for all 6th grade parents on: Tuesday, August 12th 7:45--8:20 am • Please join us for a continental breakfast and a chance to socialize!

  14. Note Cards • The note cards on the table at the back of the room are for any questions you may have that we didn’t get a chance to answer tonight! Please write down: • Your name and your student’s name • Your question(s) • Your contact information
