The Dative Case • Datives are Indirect Objects • Indirect Objects receive the Direct Object • 1st Declension endings: • singular: ae (umbrae=to/for the ghost) • plural: is (umbris=to/for the ghosts) • 2nd Declension endings: • singular: o (coquo=to/for the cook) • plural: is (coquis=to/for the cooks) • 3rd Declension endings: • singular: i (infanti=to/for the baby) • plural: ibus (infantibus=to/for the babies)
