  1. Unas gangas DUE: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30 Task: Imagine that you just went shopping and found some good deals. Your friend wants to know about your purchases. In Spanish, describe your shopping trip to him/her. This assignment will count as a test grade on the third 6 weeks grading period. It will be scored using the JISD Rubric for Writing Tasks. *Alternate assignment—Any student who prefers to speak may do the same task as a presentation instead of a writing assignment. The presentation will be scored using the JISD Rubric for Speaking Tasks.

  2. Unas gangas • 1) Plan– in Spanish • Answer the following questions about 2-3 items you purchased: • ¿Qué compraste? (What did you buy?—include description of item) • ¿Dónde lo compraste? (Where did you buy it?) • ¿Cuánto costó? (How much did it cost?) • ¿Cómo pagaste? (How did you pay?) • 2) Draft– in Spanish • Use your answers to the questions to create a first draft. Use complete sentences, and remember to conjugate the verbs in the preterite (past) tense. • Some verbs you might want to use include: • comprar– to buy buscar—to look for encontrar– to find • pagar—to pay costar—to cost gastar—to spend

  3. Unas gangas 3) Edit– in Spanish Check over your draft to see if it makes sense and is easy to understand. Be sure that you included all of the information from the planning questions. Check to make sure the following are correct: forms of the preterite (endings) noun/adjective agreement (masculine/feminine, singular/plural) spelling & accents Make any changes or additions that are needed. 4) Publish– in Spanish Rewrite your message with any revisions. Be sure to write neatly. Then turn in the rough draft and final copy.

  4. Irregular preterite verbs: ir and ser • The preterite forms of the verbs ir (to go) and ser (to be) are the same. You must look at the context to determine the meaning. • El Sr. Ruiz fue a la farmacia. Mr. Ruiz went to the pharmacy. • El Sr. Ruiz fue médico. Mr. Ruiz was a doctor. • Their preterite forms are irregular and do not have any accents.
