  2. Animal Classifications There are five different groups of animals with vertebrates. Those classifications are: • Mammals • Fish • Reptiles • Birds • Amphibians

  3. The Alligator’s Animal Classification The alligator has certain characteristics that make it a reptile. Here are some attributes. It is cold-blooded. It breathes with lungs. The alligator’s babies hatch from an egg. The skin of an alligator is dry and rough.

  5. Appearance An alligator can camouflage in the water. He has green and black skin. He has bumpy skin. He has big feet. The alligator grows up to 19 feet long. It has sharp teeth.

  6. Alligator Habitat • The alligator lives in fresh water lakes. They like to live in Florida. They like to eat fish, frogs, and ducks.

  7. The Alligator Diet The Alligator eats fish, raccoons, snakes, and birds. It also likes turtles, deer, gar, frogs and pigs. Sometimes it eats dogs, sheep, cows, and other mammals. They hunt at night. Animals that are awake at night are called nocturnal.

  8. Alligator Enemies Alligator enemies are other Alligators. Humans are enemies because they use their skin for shoes and purses. Jaguars, leopards, and pythons are their enemies too.

  9. Conclusion • Don’t hurt Alligators and they won’t hurt you. • Don’t kill Alligators. Don’t take over their habitat. • Do not feed alligators. They will think you are giving them food. So… DON’T FEED ALLIGATORS!! • I hope you learned a lot about Alligators.
