Move of ALFA stations at IP1 • Aim is to gain angular and t-resolution by increasing distance between RP stations • Project awaiting approval of ATLAS • Visit with ALFA, LHC integration, EN-CV, TE-VSC, TE-MPE and transport on May 15th 20 th LTEX Meeting Dorothea Pfeiffer (EN-MEF) DQR.A7R1 DQR.B7R1 DQR.C7R1 IP1 RR17

  3. RR17 (sector 12) • Space available if DQR.C7R1 is shifted by 30 cm towards IP1 • ALFA RP stations will be de-installed in September 2013 DQRB.RR17.EE.A12 20 th LTEX Meeting Dorothea Pfeiffer (EN-MEF) DQR.C7R1

  4. RR17 (sector 12) • To shift DQR 3 by 30 cm towards IP1, the straight pieces of pipe have to be removed 20 th LTEX Meeting Dorothea Pfeiffer (EN-MEF) 30 cm

  5. RR13 (sector 81) • Space available if DQRB.RR13.EE.A81 is put on top of DQR.C7L1 (as it is already the case for DQRB.RR17.EE.A12 on top of DQR.C7R1) • ALFA RP stations already de-installed in June 2013 20 th LTEX Meeting Dorothea Pfeiffer (EN-MEF) DQR.C7L1 DQRB.RR13.EE.A81

RR13 (sector 81) • Space available blue support is shortened at red line, andCRYOGENIC VALVE BOX and BOITIER/COFFRET ELECTROVANNE have to be moved • Afterwards there is enough clearance to install the ALFA station safely in the new location, as the photo of the ALFA 2D envelope shows CRYOGENIC VALVE BOX 20 th LTEX Meeting Dorothea Pfeiffer (EN-MEF) BOITIER/COFFRET ELECTROVANNE ALFA RP station 2D envelope

  7. Work Summary • No support pieces for DQRs to be manufactured • New pieces of beam pipe are not needed • Cabling work for DQRs not needed • In sector 12: • Only the straight pipes between DQR.C7R1 and DQR.B7R1 have to be removed and DQR.C7R1 moved by 30 cm towards DQR.B7R1 • Intervention can be carried out in two days during DQR upgrade • In sector 81: • Work is needed at DFBA electronics. A. Perin (TE-CRG), estimates a cost of 20 kCHF and a work duration of two weeks to cut the support, install a new support, produce new cables and move the two boxes • DQRB has to be put on top of DQR.C7L1 (like it already was done in sector 12) 20 th LTEX Meeting Dorothea Pfeiffer (EN-MEF)
