  2. NCO as a Supervisor Supervision is directing, inspecting, and continuously evaluating first-hand the specific activities of others. This is a dual role, you will be in a position of leadership, as well as a position of followership.

  3. Important Factors of being a supervisor: • Ability to understand duties. • Ability to state directives clear and concise. • Training and experiences with your cadets on the job. • Training and experiences in your job or activity. • Your cadets discipline while on the job. • Your knowledge of your cadet’s training, experience, and dependability.

  4. Duties of an NCO • The NCO conducts the routine business within established orders, directives, and policies of CAP. • The NCO focuses on individual training to enable the unit to get the job done. • The NCO is primarily concerned with training individual cadets and teams. • The NCO concentrates on developing younger cadets and NCO’s. • Counselor • The NCO GETS THE JOB DONE!!!

Element Leader • Teach element basic drill. • Relay information. • Assign positions within element. • Responsible for members of your element. • Work with and through assistants. • Ensure cadets are scheduled for achievement test, physical fitness test, and moral leadership requirements. • Assist Flight Sergeant.

  6. Flight Sergeant • Act as Flight Commander when he/she is not present. • Key assistant and advisor to the flight. • Responsible for cadets within flight, including element leaders and guide. • Relay information. • Accountable for cadets within flight. • Assign positions within flight. • Train members of the flight in drill and other aspects.

  7. First Sergeant • Cadet Commander’s “RIGHT HAND” • Most reliable NCO with the highest leadership qualities. • Oversee routine activities i.e. inspection, training. • You represent the interest of the enlisted cadet personnel. • Ensure cadets observe command policies, including staff. • Work directly with cadet commander, staff, and cadets to insure discipline, welfare, morale, and health. • Leadership by example, you must set the highest military standard of appearance, conduct, and performance.

  8. Remember the NCO is the workhorse of the military. You must hold yourself to the highest standard at all aspects of the Cadet Program. Eyes are always watching you, even when you might not notice. It is your duty to ensure everything has been taken care of to GET THE JOB DONE.
