  4. Objective: • provide the audience with an overview of Photoshop Elements 8.0 by • Layout of Program (GUI) • Terminology • Demonstration of concepts • Sample projects (of mine and my students)

  5. Tools • Black Arrow – more tools hidden beneath • Tool Tips – automatically appear to let you know what it is • Options bar – will change when specific tools become selected • 3 tabs • edit/full • create • share

  6. Spot Brush Healing Tool to Tip: *Spot Healing Brush: small area *Healing Brush Tool: use for larger areas

  7. Saturation Infatuation • Boosting and Removing Color • Color Saturation – a measure of the color purity • High – closest to its true essence • Low – contains more gray

  8. Saturation Infatuation (cont) 1. open image 2. Go to Layer (on menu bar) – New Adjustment Layer – Hue/Saturation • Can modify the whole image with master • Can choose specific hues to alter

Text (cont) • Open Image – select Text tool and type word or phrase (thick font works best) **NOTE: best to use a font that has a “thickness” to it • Press Ctrl+Enter to save text (resize if needed) • Alt+Double Click Background Layer (to unlock it) • Drag it above text layer • Activate top layer, Ctl+G • Activate text layer– control click on new layer icon • Can add drop shadow for additional effect

  13. Text • Drop shadow options for additional effect be sure the “T” layer is selected **Save file as a photoshop file or as a different extension

Superimpose • Open picture you want to cut something out • Use Lasso tool (I use magnetic lasso), trace around • Go to edit – CUT • Open desired image for placement • Go to edit – PASTE • Adjust size • Click on eyeball on complete picture in layers section to turn it off (go to layer 1) • Use eraser to adjust any messy edges • Turn eyeball back on for finished look

  17. Smartbrush • Allows you to quickly select an area in a photo and apply one of more than 50 effects • Increase blueness in sky, adjust contrast, whiten teeth, etc. • Demo 3 items: • greener grass, teeth whitening, B&W with color
