What is the VVa Curriculum? • Web-based course built by teams of content area experts, online learning experts, and instructional designers • Course materials include readings, flash-based interactive practice, video files, and audio files • Courses meet or exceed all applicable state and national standards

  4. Who are the teachers? • VVa is taught by certified teachers who had successful teaching experience in face-to-face classrooms • They are highly-qualified and receive extensive training on how to teach effectively online • They manage the course while interacting with students

  5. What do the teachers do? • Set the pacing of the course • Score student work • Facilitate course discussions • Ensure that students are thoroughly learning the curriculum • Work with students individually and in small groups through: • Instant messaging • Email • Phone • Live web conferences
