  5. mountain • The tallest kind of land

  6. hill Land that is higher than the land around it but smaller than a mountain

  7. plateau • Large, flat land that is higher than the surrounding land

  8. cliff • A steep face of rock and soil

  9. volcano • A mountainous vent in the earth’s crust

  10. cave • A large hole in the ground or in the side of a hill or mountain.

  11. continent • The land mass on Earth is divided into continents • There are seven current continents

  12. valley • A low place between hills or mountains

  13. pond • A small body of water surrounded by land • Smaller than a lake

  14. waterfall • A river that falls off steeply

  15. ocean • Large body of salt water • Surrounds a continent • Oceans cover more than 2/3 of the Earth’s surface

  16. river • A large, flowing body of water • Usually empties into a sea or ocean

  17. lake • Large body of water surrounded by land on all sides

  18. stream • A body of water that flows across land • Smaller than a river
