  2. In French, there are 3 ways of saying ‘the’ le la les l’ These are called the article and often, we don’t use them in English but they are always used in French. You can often tell which one to use by looking at the end of the word: Eg/ le chat – the cat la tortue – the tortoise (feminine) les chats – the cats les tortues – the tortoises (feminine) Be careful, because if a singular word starts with a vowel then the article will be l’ Generally, if the word ends in ‘e’, it will be feminine and take la. If it doesn’t, it will be masculine and take le. The plural words always take les.

Eg/ La tortue • ___ chien 9. ___ livres • ___ famille 10. ___ jupe • ___ arbre 11. ___ cahiers • ___ garçon 12. ___ oiseau • ___ fête 13. ___ étoiles • ___ filles 14. ___ bouche • ___ regle 15. ___ hamsters • ___ animal 16. ___ stylo Finished?
