  10. Joint Papers

  11. Shared Research Facilities • MULT made available a prototype of EDFA with DGE for integration in the tests of the test bed • UPC made available a test bed network • IT made available a set of boards for the M&C and a monitor and a compensator

  12. Mobility Actions

  13. External Relations NICT Japan – Regeneration IREE Czeck Republik – Regeneration and demultiplexing VUB – Fiber Bragg gratings ISIS NoE – in Dispersion Compensation for RoF

  14. Role and Contribution of Partners

  15. JP Budget Allocation Criteria • In the 1st technical meeting it was approved the criteria and weighting • Deliverable contribution (DC) • Extended – 1 • Short – 0.5 • Indicator points (IP) • Providing “real stuff” to the possible demonstrator (RS) • Monitors, compensators, boards for connections, test bed, Algorithms, etc. • Algorithm to calculate attribution of Funds • Money= (DC/DC+2xIP/IP+RS/RS)/4 x 70k€ • Redefinition may occur when finalizing.

  16. Resources employed: Effort 87% Permanent staff (AC): 9 m/m

  17. Resources employed: Budget 74%

  18. Plan for Second Year • Further collect the contributions at the various levels • ICBR algorithms • M&C’s • Implement and test the M&C NMS physical layer • Collect and adapt M&C provided by Partners • Already ongoing the adaptation of a Prototype from Multitel • Develop a grafical interface for the NMS • Test manual NMS • Implement one ICBR • Test bed trial of the concept and availability for the partners to make tests.

  19. Scientific and Technical Impact • The rating and collection of M&C technics will provide the basis for the interested partners to further develop and improve the solutions • The field test of NMS with ICBR on a trial test bed will provide the partners the possibility to test their concepts, theoretical approaches and simulations. • The field test of several M&C with dynamic behaviour will provide input for further developments and test possible improvements in network behaviour • Several papers were and will be produced in the field • Further proximity between the network management field and the physical layer will be possible, and will sure rise several other research topics and chalanges. • 2 streps found inpiration for part of the topics and consortium inside JP-T – Mare Nostrum and Sardana. Further will sure rise.

  20. Final Comments The project is runnig well, considering the nature of the funding. Interactions are occuring, however could be further enhanced. The possibility of a trial in a test bed is now closer and is near to reality Scientific contents of the produced reports/ deliverables were very interesting, multipartner and extended, and envisages a very good conclusion Several Initiatives are being generated or find some inspiration on the project topic
