  1. SO YOU WANT TO BE A BASKETBALL OFFICIAL?

CONTRA COSTA BASKETBALL OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION • The Contra Costa Basketball Officials Association is always looking for dedicated men and woman who love the game of basketball and want to either continue their officiating career or start at the high school level. • This presentation should answer most of your questions. HAVE FUN….EXERCISE…EARN MONEY

  3. WHO CAN JOIN? • Anyone over 18. • Be healthy and able to run up and down a basketball court and keep up with teenagers. • Have some experience; ie. Youth leagues, CYO, Middle School. • Have reliable transportation • Not have a criminal record

  4. WHERE ARE WE LOCATED? • We serve almost 50 schools in the San Francisco East Bay Area. • Schools from Brentwood in far eastern Contra Costa County to Newark in far southern Alameda County. • Meetings are usually held in the Concord/Walnut Creek Area on Sundays.

  5. WHEN DOES THE SEASON START? • Meetings start in October. • There are usually 5 or 6 required training meetings each season. • Games are played from the middle of November until the third week of February. • Playoff will continue for another four weeks.

  6. TRAINING • CCBOA offers intensive training for all officials. • Summer camps. • In season training meetings. • Evaluation Program • Independent Evaluators

  7. HOW DO I START? The first step is to contact CCBOA Secretary Mike Capps to get on the association mailing list. Dvhsteach@sbcglobal.net Each month you will receive a newsletter via email that will keep you informed about all of the activities of the association. Pay your dues and come to the first meeting in October. First and second year officials have an additional training meeting in early October.
