  2. Red Deer River Valley One of the richest places on Earth for dinosaur fossils has been from the badlands region of the Red Deer River valley, near Drumheller, Alberta. From this area, thousands of dinosaur fossils have been unearthed and ongoing research continues to find a treasure trove of dinosaur remains.

  3. Cretaceous Geology During the late Cretaceous, the region was a vast coastal plain bordering the inland Cretaceous seaway (Western Interior Seaway) to the east and the ancestral Rocky Mountain highlands to the west. Along this coastal plain large rivers flowed from the west depositing terrestrial clastic sediments in a variety of depositional environments. Life was abundant in this region and the great dinosaurs were the dominant species.

  4. Dinosaurs of Drumheller The following slides are various dinosaurs from the Red Deer River valley area (near Drumheller), and are on display at the famous Royal Tyrrell Museum.
