British Judo Association North West Area Monthly Newsletter Internet Page - http://www.burnley-judo.demon.co.uk/NorthWest/ August 1998 Junior Grading Llangollen Shield / Kearsley Cup The next Junior Promotion Examination will be held at Middleton Recreation Centre. Due to the holiday period, the date has been changed. Please ensure that all your members have been made aware of this. This event had to be cancelled due to the very poor entry. A number of entries did arrive well after the closing date but still not enough to stage the event. This championship is one of the oldest annual events in the BJA calendar and the North West Area are committed to ensuring that it continues long into the future. It is obvious though that in recent years the event has struggled to attract sufficient entries from North West based clubs. It was felt therefore to update the format and open the event to other BJA areas. We hope to stage this event later this year, probably on Sunday 8th November. There are 66 BJA registered clubs in the North West area. As clubs, we need your support in two ways. Firstly, if you have any constructive ideas or comments in how we can improve the format, we would like to hear them. A meeting is being arranged in July of the North West Area Committee at which the future of this event will be discussed. Secondly, we need your active support by entering teams in the event making sure we receive them before or by the closing date. We look forward to you comments.
