It is located in the heart of the Amazon jungle, the world's largest forest, also home of the world's largest river basin, formed by the Amazon River and its tributaries.It is the seventh most populous city in the country, with more than one million, eight hundred thousand inhabitants.   14. Tourism Manaus is located in northern Brazil. It was founded in 1669, but became a city in 1848. It is located next to the largest ecological reserve in the world: the Amazon Rainforest. The population is estimated at 1.8 million inhabitants. It is also home to the largest river basin in the world. The city was influenced by the British architecture, during the Rubber Boom, when Manaus received English immigration. This is reflected in the architecture of the city.   16. Ecotourism Manaus offers several recreational options for Ecotourism. Whether you take a boat trip to see the Meeting of the Waters; enter the jungle to see the rich and lush flora and fauna; navigate the rivers to fish for more than two thousand types of fish; Manaus has options for all tastes.

  17. Climate The equatorial climate is humid, with an average annual temperature of 27°C. The relative humidity is around 80%. The region has two distinct seasons: the Rainy (winter), from December to May, during which the temperature appears to be milder, with frequent rain, and the Dry season (summer), June to November, a time of intense sun and high temperatures , around 38 º C. Strong rain showers of short duration occur frequently throughout the year.

  18. Gastronomy Another attraction is the cuisine. Most dishes are of indigenous origin. You can enjoy more than two thousand species of fish - Tambaqui, Matrinxã, Jaraqui, Pacu, Arapaima and Peacock Bass. There is also tacacá, a cassava soup. .Other delights are: tapioca; fruits; cassava cakes; mugunzá, a porridge made from corn.

  19. General Information Time zone Manaus is one hour less in relation to Brasilia, Brazil’s capital, and four hours less in relation to the Greenwich Mean Time. It does not have daylight saving time.
