HISTORY • The First games of Badminton were played in China as early as the 12th century. • The British Military brought back a version of badminton from India that was called “poona.” • The first game of badminton as we know it was played inside on a rainy day in the Estate of Badminton in England in 1873. • In 1893 the official rules of Badminton were written and the game was officially born.

IN DOUBLES YOU MUST HIT IT INTO THE THE SHORT WIDE COURT THUS, THE SHORT LINE IS USED IN DOUBLES ONLY . SERVE

TOSS FOR SERVE - USUALLY A SPIN OF THE RACKET-PICK SERVE OR RECEIVE. 15 POINTS TO WIN FOR MEN 11 POINTS TO WIN FOR WOMEN IF TIED AT 14 THE GAME IS SET AT 1 OR 3 POINTS This is a simplification of the scoring rules *2 OUT OF 3 GAMES MAKE A MATCH* EXCEPT WHEN A PLAYER WINS 15-0.   13. . ITS TIME TO VOLLEY • TO PRACTICE THE VOLLEY THE STUDENTS CAN HIT THE BIRD UP AND DOWN ROTATING THE RACKET FROM FOREHAND TO BACK HAND. • THEN THEY CAN HIT IT BACK AND FORTH TO A PARTNER.
