  1. UCSD CSE 3 FLUENCY WITH INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY By Weijia Mao Computational Thinking Desktop Publishing with MS PowerPoint Data Analysis and Visualization with MS Excel Computational thinking builds on the power and limits of computing processes,  whether they are  executed by a human or by a machine.  Computational methods and models give us the courage to solve problems and design systems that no one of us would be capable of  tackling alone. PowerPoint presentations consist of a number of individual pages or "slides". The "slide" analogy is a reference to the slide projector. A better analogy would be the "foils" (or transparencies/plastic sheets) that are shown with an overhead projector, although they are in decline now. Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application developed by Microsoft for Microsoft Windows and Mac OS. It features calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language called Visual Basic for Applications. Alice is a freeware object-based programming educational programming language with an integrated development environment (IDE). Alice uses a drag and drop environment to create computer animations using 3D models. Dynamic Webpage Programming with JavaScript JavaScript (JS) is an interpreted computer programming language. As part of web browsers, implementations allow client-side scripts to interact with the user, control the browser, communicate asynchronously, and alter the document content that is displayed.
