Assumptions • Moving from global awareness to a global mindset requires cognitive shifts. • Integrating global learning into the curriculum requires taking advantage of multiple resources. • Incorporating global issues into the classroom does not require total curriculum revision. • Knowledge of online and library resources encourages students to seek alternative viewpoints.

  3. Value of Global Newspapers • Accessible online • Introduces students to the framing of issues • Opens students to new portals of knowledge • Provides non-US perspective • Piques interest through copy and visuals

SPCH 201: Public Speaking Assignment: Persuasive Speech ( handed out in class) • Topic must focus on an ecological, environmental or humanitarian problem in the US and elsewhere in the world. • You need four forms of supporting material including one international (non-US) newspaper article, one southeastern US newspaper article. • Published no earlier than 1/1/2011. • Use the Dacus library NewsBank database to locate up-to-date articles on your topic • Other databases and sources found on the Global Learning LibGuidewill also lead you to up-to-date articles
