Camp Conestoga Choose Cherish Keep Remember Save Continue Carry on Conserve Preserve Maintain Sustain Secure Protect Remember polar bear swims, sleeping out under the stars, cookouts, campfires, bug juice, gooberdinkies, horseback riding, backpacking trips, singing unit songs, mud sliding and creek stomping, canoeing, bear hunts, crafts, s’mores and fun, friendships and memories to last a lifetime? The Property Committee of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois has proposed selling all of our council camps, in order to purchase a modern outdoor center in another location. If you, a family member, neighbor or friend attended Girl Scout Camp, please help us ensure that campers of today and tomorrow will have a chance to go to summer camp, day camp and troop camp at Girl Scout Camps in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois, too! Please make your voice heard! Write a letter to the editor, sign a petition,attend a town hall meeting, contact a Girl Scout Council board member, contact a local politician, write a blog on girlscoutstoday.org or email the Property Committee at property@girlscoutstoday.org. Thank you! Your input will help preserve our wonderful Girl Scout Camps. • What I gained from camp: • Perseverance • Self-reliance • Responsibility • Diversity • Respect for nature, the environment and conservation • Courage • Life-long friendships • Pride • Survival skills • Adventurous spirit • How to sing in harmony • Leadership • Ability to swim • Canoeing • How to groom & ride horses Remember around the campfire The songs we loved to sing, For you belong to Conestoga, And Conestoga belongs to you. Remember the fun you’ve had here, Remember when you’re away, Remember the friends you’ve made here, And don’t forget to come back someday.
