  1. SHADOWS & DUST

  2. REBOUND 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

  3. Standard Definition: Shadow - • A dark figure or image cast on the ground, or some surface by a body intercepting light. • Shade or comparative darkness, as in an area. • Shadows, darkness, especially that coming after sunset.

  4. Jesus – Light of the world: John 8:12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” φῶςPhos (foce) NN to shine or make manifest, especially by rays; luminousness (in the widest application, natural or artificial, abstract or concrete, literal or figurative):—fire, light. - Thayer's (New Testament Greek-English Lexicon)

  5. Got Holiness? Christians in reality are little fragments of God’s perfect light and holiness due to Christ’s work on the cross as well as the indwelling of the trinity. Matthew 5:14 “You are thelightoftheworld. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

  6. ECCLESIASTES 6:12 “For who knows what is good for a man during his lifetime, during the few years of his futile life? He will spend them like a shadow. For who can tell a man what will be after him under the sun?” (NASB)

  7. Definition of Shadow in Eccl 6:12 in Hebrew: lx@Tsel (t-sale) – Noun, Masculine 1. Shadow, shade 2. Shadow (on dial) 3. Shadow, shade (as protection) 4. Shadow, symbolic of our transitory (brief) aspect of life

  8. Biblical Numerology: Tsel (sale) Shadow Tsade (S) x xNumerical Value = 90 Lamda (L)l lNumerical Value = 30

  9. Biblical Numerology: 90 + 30 = 120 E.W. Bullinger – Numbers In Scripture (1967) 120 In Numerology Refers to Time. “Applied to time it signifies a divinely appointed period of probation (testing). Applied to persons it points to a divinely appointed number during a period of waiting.” Genesis 6:3

  10. Biblical Numerology:  Genesis 6:3 (NASB) Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” In this verse we see a period of probation (testing) for Noah and the Nephilim, as well as a divine period of waiting where Noah had 120 years to build the ark before the flood came.

  11. Biblical Numerology:   Furthermore, interesting how the word tsel, or Shadow in the Hebrew, numerical values sum up to 120. A number that we have just seen can be used for probation, (testing) or a divine period of waiting. Hold on a minute, what did Solomon say earlier… Why he said man will spend his life like a shadow. Or in other words we could potentially say, in a human body on a probational basis for testing for a divine period of time that God has not disclosed to us!

  12. ECCLESIASTES 6:12 “For who knows what is good for a man during his lifetime, during the few years of his futile life? He will spend them like a shadow. For who can tell a man what will be after him under the sun?” (NASB)

  13. Adam Clarke Commentary On ECCLESIASTES 6:12: For who knoweth what is good for man in this life? Those things which we deem good are often evil. And those which we think evil are often good. So ignorant are we, that we run the greatest hazard in making a choice. It is better to leave ourselves and our concerns in the hands of the Lord, than to keep them in our own. For who can tell a man what shall be after him? Futurity is with God. While he lives, man wishes to know what is before him. When he is about to die, he wishes to know what will be after him. All this is vanity; God, because he is merciful, will reveal neither.

  14. Shadow In Reference To Time (Sun Dial) JOB 8:9 (NASB) “For we are only of yesterday and know nothing, Because our days on earth are as a shadow. PSALM 144:4 (NASB) Man is like a mere breath; His days are like a passing shadow.

  15. Shadow In Reference To Time (Sun Dial) PSALM 102:11 (NASB) My days are like a lengthened shadow, And I wither away like grass. Ecclesiastes 8:13 But it will not be well for the evil man and he will not lengthen his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God.

  16. Standard Definition: Dust – 1. earth or other matter in fine, dry particles. 2. a cloud of finely powdered earth or other matter in the air. 3. any finely powdered substance, as sawdust. 4. the ground; the earth's surface. 5. the substance to which something, as the dead human body, is ultimately reduced by disintegration or decay; earthly remains.

  17. GENESIS 2:7: Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (NASB)

  18. Definition of Dust in Gen 2:7: rp!^u* Aphar (aw-fawr) Noun, Masculine Dry earth, dust, powder, ashes, earth, ground, mortar, rubbish

  19. Adam Clarke Commentary On Genesis 2:7: God formed man of the dust - In the most distinct manner God shows us that man is a compound being, having a body and soul distinctly, and separately created; the body out of the dust of the earth, the soul immediately breathed from God himself. Does not this strongly mark that the soul and body are not the same thing?

  20. Adam Clarke Commentary On Genesis 2:7: The body derives its origin from the earth, or as aphar implies, the dust; hence because it is earthly, it is decomposable and perishable. Of the soul it is said, God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; nishmath chaiyim, the breath of Lives, i.e., animal and intellectual. While this breath of God expanded the lungs and set them in play, his inspiration gave both spirit and understanding.

  21. GENESIS 2:7: Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (NASB)

  22. Definition of ground in Gen 2:7: hm*d*a&adamah(ad-aw-maw) NF Ground, land 1. Ground (as general, tilled, yielding sustenance) 2. Piece of ground, a specific plot of land 3. Earth substance (for building or constructing) 4. Ground as earth's visible surface 5. Land, territory, country 6. Whole inhabited earth

Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone to receive a little.” Compare: Joshua 7:21; Psalm 49:7-9; 2 Sam 14:26, 2 Sam 18:9, etc.

  25. Definition of Adam: <d^a^ (aw-dawm) NM First Man, First Dust Adam = “red” Red could correlate to our human blood, (spiritual emphasis) as well as the red earth (physical body emphasis)

  27. Mans’ Destiny In Adam’s Name: E.W. Bullinger – Numbers In Scripture (1967) 1 = Primacy, One God. 4 = Creation, Material Matter. 40 = Probation, trial and chastisement.

  28. Mans’ Destiny In Adam’s Name: 5X8 = 40 5 = Grace 8 = New Beginning, Super Abundance, Regeneration. Grace of God X Super-abundance, Regeneration, New Beginning Putting it all together, we start with God, (1) who created man (4). Man who sinned and entered himself into a time of probation and chastisement due to his sin. (40) Christ who died on the cross for our sins and gave us an abundant new life, grace and salvation, as well as a new beginning in Him… (5X8)

  29. Dust References: GENESIS 3:19 By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.” (NASB) GENESIS 18:27 And Abraham replied, “Now behold, I have ventured to speak to the Lord, although I am but dust and ashes. (NASB)

  30. Dust References: ECCLESIASTES 3:20 All go to the same place. All came from the dust and all return to the dust. (NASB) ECCLESIASTES 12:7 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it. (NASB)
