  2. Mission CAUL is the peak leadership organisation for university libraries in Australia. Our mission is to enhance the value and capacity of Australian university libraries and to influence scholarship, learning, and information policies and practices relevant to Australian higher education

  3. Research and access to information We are committed to strengthening the role of university libraries as partners in the research process and in promoting libraries’ unique contribution to scholarship and scholarly communication

  4. CAUL Research Advisory Committee Focus on the strategic development of repository services; and provide an opportunity for repository managers to discuss common repository issues with a secondary aim of collaborating on solutions

  5. 2012 CAUL Repository Statistics

  6. Systems Integration

  7. Issues • Number of works in repositories are growing – mandated deposit for all research publications is increasing; 61% involved in HERDC collection; 57% capable tagging mandated deposits • 68% of deposits collected by repository staff independent of authors or researchers but no increase in repository staffing • Name ambiguity impedes citations tracking; more difficult to share records, report and discover

  8. Researcher ID Scheme

  9. Enable Discovery • Global researcher identifier to assist with automated integrations with different systems to simplify workflows and lower costs • To capture every stage of research work, back to the thesis • To share records and information globally

  10. CAUL providing improved visibility for universities’ research outputs through repositories and discovery services http://www.caul.edu.au/caul-programs/research/repository-services/repository-manager-tools
