  5. Worldliness was a very definite issue during the fifties. This problem had very much to do with the frustration and division. The same preacher who would see danger in church support of recreation would also cry out against the social dance, vulgar talk, and the social drink. The affluent socialites with their worldly habits could have help from many good people if they would cry: “We love poor little orphans.” They could also tell the elders that they did not like the way the preacher preached. He preached too long. He offended friends whom they brought. He seemed to be angry when he preached. They could soon have their way and the preacher would move.
