Overarching Question: How does energy from the sun impact Earth’s atmosphere and drive weather?

Goal: To draw a diagram of the four layers of Earth’s atmosphere and examine the properties used to distinguish the layers of the atmosphere.

  • Draw the Earth by tracing a penny in the center of page 84 of your science notebook.

  • Measure 16 mm from surface of the Earth and place a dot in 4 to 5 places. Connect the dots to make the first layer of the atmosphere. Label this layer Troposphere.
