Updating Conditions For the reprocessing with CMSSW44 Correct HPD gain drift using LED calibration (HcalGains) Compensate for QPLL unlock by increasing number of TS from 5 to 4 (HcalRecoParams) For the 2011 HCAL Calibration Update Data derived response corrections will be applied on top of the hardware corrections Calibration data has to be reprocessed with final offline tags forHcalGains and HcalRecoParams Apply HF energy scale from Zee Update phi-symmetry Update isolated track calibration

Calibration Schedule Need hardware conditions with IOVs for the data range that will be used for the calibration HcalGain (Pawel/Dima/Vladimir) HcalRecoParams (Salavat/Jim) Sept 30 Updated phi-symmetry (Igor/Olga) Oct 14 Updated isolated track (Anton/Alexandre) Oct 21 Validation and testing Oct 24 2011 calibration ready for updating corrections to high level objects

List of hardware problems taken into account by 2011 Calibration • ND filter – fixed in Spring • HF sleeve replacement - corrected with new phisym corrections • HPD drifting gains – Tag with IOVs under construction • Clock problem for 72 channels – Number of TS increased to 5 TS. HcalRecoParams condition is used with IOVs

Timing alignment issues – HLT issue • After discussions we decided to put 5 TS both to HLT and prompreco (same tag is used). • Was done this Monday: HLT time increased tens times and we were forced to roll it back. • The reason was investigated and fixed by Salavat/Jeremy (appears to be the known issue. But tag waits for CMSSW500). • Jeremy proposed the solution for 42X and 440. • Salavat prepared tags. • Salavat and Bryan tested tags for Reco and HLT. • Without TS update and old code: 7.2 msec/event • Change TS in old code: 168 msec/ev • Change TS and New fix : 1.6 msec/ev Tags were created and sent to RECO and HLT.

  7. 25ns/High PU WG Energy reconstruction Startup scenario for 2012 for 25ns and 50ns HF 1TS HBHE 2TS Measure pulse from data and update description in MC Introduce changes in CMSSW5x QPLL problem will prevent us from using 2TS Fallback option may be to keep using 4TS and 5TS Investigating best option… Hope that the problematic modules can be replaced

  8. 25ns/High PU WG Data Volume Option to reduce the number of TS for HF and HBHE, but better to compress the data so we do not have to remove TS from the readout Increase number of FEDs for HF during long shutdown Reduce the ZS search window for HBHE (option if needed) Was presented in JetMET meeting Introduce changes in CMSSW5x Need to finalize data format and FED numbering so that we can prepare the software Discussion and planning at the next 25ns WG meeting

Status HF Phase Plan to leave HF phase setting as 50/50-7ns (both for 50ns and 25ns) Remove HF from single jet triggers at L1 Was presented in TSG Coordination meeting, received some questions… need to reply… Noise Filters Check filter performance for new conditions Provide recommendation for 50ns with high PU Provide recommendation for 25ns Looking for additional help in this area…

  11. Calibration status: drift of HPD’s signal Pawel , Dima, Vladimir Reference point: Oct-7-2010, r147407 Check points: each Month Cnew=Cold/LED(i)/LED(0) IOVs are created Blue-before, Green-after corrections To do: - clean the procedure - check with phisym analyses (re-reco with new gains)
