  2. What is it? Homeless Pet Clubs (HPC) is an adjunct organization of The Homeless Pets Foundation (HPF), which was created in 1998 by Dr. Michael Good, an Atlanta, Georgia veterinarian, to save homeless pets scheduled for euthanasia.

  3. In 2010, HPF created Homeless Pet Clubs (HPC), to give students, civic leaders, and business owners the opportunity to share their love of animals by promoting animal rescue, responsible pet ownership, adoption of shelter animals, and animal welfare. "We want children to learn to be kind to living things; be kind to animals and be kind to each other," says Dr. Michael Good, who founded both organizations.

  6. 2. Invite rescue Groups to visit your club meetings and talk about…

  7. The plight of homeless pets Adoption and rescue

  8. Spay/neuter Vet visits Pet care Animal “speak” Animal “jobs”

  9. 3. Hold a donation drive

  10. 4. Volunteer at a shelter Field trip!

  11. 5. Hold fundraisers

  12. Claim a bulletin board Set up booths at school events Participate in shelter functions Participate in contests Participate in the Braves promotion Keep updated on the website Start a blog

  13. So how do I get started?

  14. Everything you need is on the Homeless Pet Clubs website under “resources”. Be sure to register your club!

  15. Ways to get started: *Get all your paperwork ready *Have a meeting plan and location *determine # of members, membership requirements, and dues *Speak with your administrator *Distribute information *Hold an informational meeting *Have elections *Get a speaker scheduled

  16. Easy things to do right away: T-shirt contest Pet photo contest Sponsor a pet and make flyers

  17. Make it work for you! Begin as you feel comfortable… don’t overdo it. Make it as fun for you as it is for the students!

  18. Remember… Our goal is to develop our students’ sense of commitment to caring for the homeless animals in our community, and ultimately make a difference in our world!
