Austrian Science and Research Liaison Offices • eingerichtet 1990 im Auftrag des österreichischen Bundesministerium für Wissenschaft und Forschung (früher bm:bwk) • zur Unterstützung von sozio-ökonomischer Transformation und Integration von wissenschaftlichen Communities in das internationale Netzwerk der wissenschaftlichen Kooperation • zur Förderung von bilateraler wissenschaftlicher Kooperation von österreichischen WissenschafterInnen und WissenschafterInnen mit den Gastländern

  3. Österreichische Wissenschaftspolitik Im Zuge der EU-Erweiterung entschied das bmwf eine spezielle Strategie hinsichtlich der SOE-Länder zu verfolgen, um sie näher an den europäischen Forschungsraum anzubinden. ASO Sofia und ASO Ljubljana … … unterstützen die Wissenschaftsinitiative des bmwf

Methoden und Programm …Bottom-up-Zugang in allen Wissenschaftsfeldern, hauptsächlich “Stärkung des Networkings und der Kommunikation zwischen ForscherInnen aus Österreich und SOE” …jährlicher Schwerpunkt Identifikation von horizontal orientierten Schlüsselthemen; Aktivitäten beziehen sich auf Westbalkanländer = Callthema …Arbeitsprinzipien: • ASOs agieren als Organisatoren bzw. Mitorganisatoren (z. B. von Konferenzen und Workshops), fördern Austausch von WissenschafterInnen und Publikationen als Follow-Up-Aktiviäten) • Haupterfordernisse: (institutionalisierte) ForscherInnen aus A und BG und/oder SLO, und im Besonderen aus WB-Ländern sollen teilnehmen (Universitäten, außeruniversitäre Forschungsinstitutionen)

Arbeit der ASOs heute Abhängig von den Ressourcen und Themen: • 1/3 Unterstützung und Finanzierung von bilateralen Aktivitäten: ASOs fungieren als Kontaktpunkt und Förderer für bilaterale Aktivitäten (A, BG, SLO) • 2/3 regionale Aktivitäten zu wichtigen Themen für SOE - horizontale Verknüpfung, nicht nur sektoral in spezifischen Wissenschaftsfeldern, Themen sind auch relevant für Entscheidungsträger und Stakeholder - Aktives regionales Verlinken - In Übereinstimmung mit Trends, Initiativen und Programmen (ERA, FP6/7, Bologna Prozess, Lissabon Strategie)

Thematic reports on Innovation Infrastructures in the Western Balkan CountriesThe Information Office of the Steering Platform on Research for Western Balkan Countries produced 6 thematic reports on innovation infrastructures in order to enhance the understanding of the national innovation systems in the target countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia (incl.
