  2. EDITION DECISION LIST (EDL) • A list used by the editor to determine the look of the final version of the film.

  3. EYE LINE • The location/direction where an actor should look. It can be useful with a pov shot.

  4. HEAD • The beginning of a roll of tape.

  5. INSERT SHOT • A close-up of some detail in a scene.

  6. POINT OF VIEW SHOT (POV) • A shot from the perspective from one of the characters where the audience sees the scenes from their eyes.

  7. SAFETY • An additional take, after a successful one, as a backup.

  8. SCRATCH TEST • This is done before filming to ensure that the film/tape does not contain any scratches or imperfections.

  9. UNDEREXPOSURE • Filming a scene with less light than what is needed.

  10. WILD SOUND • Non-sync sound recorded without the camera running; usually recorded to supplement sync.

  11. APPLE BOX • A wooden box used to raise equipment; an early version of a tripod.
